British Airways 747 Memorabilia
In the midst of emptying two houses – our own and my parents’ – my mum came across some British Airways memorabilia, including my first flight details, in my British Airways Junior Jet Club passenger log book from way back in 1977, featuring British Airways Captain Leo Budd.
A few weeks later, at the bottom of a box I was just about to throw away, a glint caught my eye and I found some more airline flight memorabilia – my Junior Jet Club enamelled British Airways badge. I have also come across my old suitcase, inside which was a British Airways baby bus – they really do make some great British Airways souvenirs and flying memorabilia!
No wonder I’ve always loved flying, this baby’s first flight was at nine weeks old. Looks like my wanderlust started in nappies thanks to the Junior Jet Set!
It’s actually strange that I love flying so much really. I don’t remember anything of most airports, but I do remember I always used to be sick on the plane. The smell of fuel whilst sat on the tarmac always used to make me feel massively nauseous. I still don’t like the smell now. However, the love of visiting new places was obviously instilled from an early age, and that love is enough to overcome any bad smell!
What a lovely blast from the past it’s been for me and for my mum, finding her (not so little anymore) baby’s first flight records and seeing where my first flight adventure took me.

Indeed, the company that became British Airways operated the worlds first commercial scheduled airline service in 1919. From the early days of aviation through to more recent times, British Airways has stood for high standards of quality and professionalism. Curator of the British Airways Heritage Collection Paul Jarvis guides the reader through the story of the company from its earliest origins to the present. In this full-colour illustrated history, we see how the whole experience of flying has changed over the years: the aeroplanes, the interiors, the uniforms, the advertising and much more.

I have my 25,000 mile certificate framed in my office! Also signed by Captain Budd. Mine would have been signed in the mid to late 70s.
How fabulous! Wonder if Captain Budd is still around? Would be good to find out 🙂
Leo Budd is my Grandpa 😊. He died in 2001.
Oh my goodness how lovely to hear from a relative of his! So sorry to hear that he’s passed away though.
